Last year a little nugget of information popped up momentarily on one of Michael Fremer’s Analog Planet show reports that might have slipped past unoticed by many, but not by me. Michael was visiting the AMG room at the Munich HiFi Show and during the walk through of what was on display and upcoming a brief mention was made of an upraded power supply option for the wonderful AMG Giro turntable which I reviewed back in May 2015…..
Its a sad fact that Bangor town has had no music retailer since January 2012 when HMV closed its doors in the town. Over the years Bangor has had numerous record shops, from Smyths for Records, Unicorn Records, Harrison/Musique, Kosmos, Underground Music, Plastic Passion, The Record and Tape Centre, Aquarius Music, MTM and Sho’nuff, to name a few of the independents that traded there over the years, but after HMV closed its doors in the town there had been no new music retailing in the town until Bending Sounds started trading in April 2017 …….
This will be the first in a series of review/visits of some of the record shops in Northern Ireland. It won’t be as expansive as my Scottish series back in 2012, simply because of logistic limitations, but I will do my best to visit all the main players in independant music retailing in the north of Ireland…..

As I look at the AudioQuest DragonFly Red, weigh it in my hand, turn its shiny red body over and over, I am gob smacked by just what this tiny product can do, diminutive in size, modest cost, and yet truly it punches well above its weight in terms of soundquality…..
